-He sold his companies, or parts of, to Rupert Murdoch, or with Rupert Murdoch to Walt Disney, and received the largest payment to an individual ever -- $1.6 billion. He sought tax avoidance advice and participated in a complex transaction that was to have taken place on or about Sept 11, 2001. It actually was traded on about Sept 17, 2001.
The scheme was discussed by a Senate investigating committee in 2006.
In May 2002, Saban created the Saban Institute at Brookings.
